1. If I am not in a deregulated market, what can I do? If your state deregulates natural gas or electric services in the future, Commerce Energy is interested in knowing how to reach you. Please indicate your interest in being able to choose your energy provider and experience the pricing and benefits of having service plan choices. Commerce Energy will retain your information and contact you, should we offer services in your state and utility market. Click here for linking to other state pages and filling-out an interest form. TOP 2. So, what is deregulated and what isn't? Only energy generation is deregulated and provided to you by energy marketers/suppliers. Marketers/suppliers buy and sell wholesale energy at market prices and base energy rates on these prices. Transmission and distribution or delivery of the energy to you is maintained by the local utility. TOP 3. How can I be a "smart" consumer? A smart consumer is one who exercises his/her right to choose an energy provider in a deregulated market. Learn more about the available options in your market and how you can use energy more efficiently. If you are in a regulated market, it is smart to make your voice heard in favor of opening up the market to competitive energy suppliers. Deregulation paves the way for innovations, higher service levels and transparency. Commerce Energy is actively involved in lobbying for the deregulation of energy markets. TOP 4. Why did Commerce Energy change its traditional energy service plan names
to Sure Choice The implementation of Sure Choice is part of our brand strategy. As our customer, you now have straightforward options and can make more informed decisions between the variety of Sure Choice traditional energy service plans and, where available, Clear Choice clean energy service plans. Sure Choice replaces our "Price Stopper" program, and Clear Choice is our new clean energy program. TOP 5. How can I switch? To switch from your current provider to Commerce Energy, just complete an enrollment application form indicating your desire to switch to a specific service plan offered by Commerce Energy. If you enroll online, you only have to select the desired service plan and complete the three stages of the enrollment process. And you can always call our Customer Service department if you have any questions. To see the specific state contact information, go to the Customer Service section of our Web site. TOP |
